Residents of the city of Seattle with an income of no more than 200% of the Federal Poverty Level who have been referred by a DV advocate. Also serves clients who recently fled Seattle due to domestic violence and have a case in King County.

Clients should be referred by a domestic violence advocate. If the client does not already have an advocate, refer to one of the following for advocacy and a potential referral to the Seattle DV Project: New Beginnings: (206) 522-9472   LifeWire: (425) 746-1940 DAWN: (425) 656-7867   Clients who prefer to communicate in ASL by video phone should also be referred to CLEAR*ASL, whether or not they are referred to the CLEAR line.

Description

Provides legal advice and representation in family law issues for potential clients who live or work in Seattle, work with a DV agency located within Seattle, recently fled Seattle, or are cooperating with law enforcement in Seattle, who are survivors of domestic violence and telephone advice to advocates working with survivors of domestic violence. Clients gain access to the program through referral by a domestic violence advocate. Printed materials regarding legal rights, responsibilities and procedures may also be available in various languages.

Provides free legal advice and representation to low-income residents of Washington state. Specializes in housing, family, health, public benefits, consumer and education law. Family law cases are limited to those involving domestic violence or child abuse. Programs include the Native American Unit,  Cross Cultural Family Law Clinic, Seattle Domestic Violence Project, and a legal information website: www.washingtonlawhelp.org.
