Women's Residential Recovery offered by Seattle's Union Gospel Mission at Hope Place

Operates a long-term residential rehabilitation program for women struggling with substance use disorder, including treatment for women who are pregnant or parenting, located at the women's shelter in South Seattle.   Women live at the shelter for about three months in "candidacy phase" before they decide to go in to the Oaks program.   Women who are struggling with trauma can receive targeted assistance through counseling, case management and classroom instruction.    Once in the Oaks program, additional classes are offered in such life skills as:   -  Safe Relationships -  Parenting -  Job/School Readiness -  Bible Studies    DUI Evaluations Provides a court-ordered assessment of individuals who have been convicted of driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol to evaluate the severity of their problem and make a recommendation to the court regarding appropriate treatment.   Outpatient Treatment Provides outpatient substance use disorder services that usually requires fewer than nine hours per week of attendance, which may include individual and group counseling, 12-step meetings, social and recreational activities, educational and vocational services, life skills training, primary health care, perinatal health care, a program for family members, relapse prevention services, a continuing care program and supportive services (such as child care, transportation and parenting skills development). Length of service can be anywhere between six months to two years depending on the needs of the individual and/or court order.   Intensive Outpatient Treatment  provides outpatient substance use disorder services that usually requires 9-20 hours per week of attendance, which may include individual and group counseling, 12-step meetings, social and recreational activities, educational and vocational services, life skills training, primary health care, perinatal health care, a program for family members, relapse prevention services, a continuing care program and supportive services (such as child care, transportation and parenting skills development).

Intake: M-F, 8am-5pm.

Application process

Call for intake. Applicant should continue calling until someone screens her or tells her that screening is over for the day.   Once screened, caller is placed on a phone list.   When shelter has vacancies, case managers will call clients back.   Those who call regularly will be higher on the call back list.

Women ages 18 and older who are struggling with substance use disorder.

Operates an emergency shelter for men and women during the day.  Provides hot meals, day room, hygiene center, ESL classes, clothing, pet care and chapel services with many programs available to serve Spanish-speaking clients. Provides respite care for men needing bed rest for medical recovery. Coordinates mental health counseling, homeless outreach and 12-step programs. Conducts a residential substance abuse treatment program and transitional housing services for men without children.
