Great Starts Birth & Family Education offered by Parent Trust for Washington Children

Offers a variety of classes on pregnancy, labor, birth, breastfeeding and parenting. Technology equipment available for people to attend the classes. BASIC CHILDBIRTH PREPARATION CLASS:   Addresses the last months of pregnancy, childbirth and early postpartum.   Teaches relaxation and breathing techniques.   Class meets for seven sessions before the birth and one postpartum reunion class.   LABOR AND BIRTH:   This short course is to prepare for or review childbirth.   Meets for one eight hour class or two four-hour sessions. BREASTFEEDING CLASS:   Offers helpful hints and information on breast feeding for expectant and new mothers; babies are welcome.   Private classes may be available. SIBLING CLASS:   Prepares children ages 2. 5 to 7 for the pregnancy, birth and homecoming of a new family member.   BABYSAFE AND INFANT CPR:   Infant safety class for new and expectant parents and other caregivers who want to learn infant CPR and ways to prevent accidents and/or injuries for the baby younger than one year of age.   NEWBORN CARE CLASS:   Offers information about baby care during the first weeks of life, including diapering, cord care, bathing and comforting.

Office: M-F, 10am-2:30pm. Classes are held M-Th, evenings and Sa mornings.

Fee

Fees range from $20-310 depending on the class. Accepts WA Apple Health (Medicaid) for birth series classes.

Parent Trust for Washington Children

Provides family support and education to families in Washington State. The Family Help Line provides listening, parent coaching, information & referral, and advocacy to parents, caregivers and professionals. Offers mutual-help support groups throughout Washington state, where parents can exchange information on healthy parenting. Also offers free developmental screenings and stress reduction services through the SMART Teen and Developmental Screening programs. Parent Trust Great Starts and Conscious Fathering programs provide birth education and preparation for new and expectant parents. Maintains an online statewide searchable database of classes, groups, and resources.
