State-funded preschool provides free, comprehensive early childhood programs. Includes preschool education, snacks, meals, parent involvement, health services coordination, and family support services. Transitional Kindergarten is a kindergarten program for children who do not have access to high-quality early learning experiences prior to kindergarten. Additionally, they have been deemed to be in need of additional preparation to be successful in kindergarten the following year. These programs work closely with parents to support their children’s health and education needs and to meet family goals and also helps families access medical care, dental care, and social services.

All classes serve children with a range of abilities and disabilities, including cognitive delays, communication disorders, autism, learning disorders and severe behavioral disabilities, as well as typically developing students. Implements systematic instruction to children with special needs. Physical therapists, Occupational therapists and Speech Language Pathologists work with the teaching staff to provide services for students who qualify. Operates more than 30 Head Start/ECEAP/Early Head Start centers in Spokane County. Provides support for families, encourages parent involvement and coordinates child health care and nutrition. Head Start/ECEAP: Offers full- and partial-day preschool programs for children ages 3-pre-kindergarten. Early Head Start: Child development program provided at the center and in-home for families during pregnancy and those with infants and toddlers up to age 3.

Child Find: Serves as a location or contact point for families in the Dieringer School District. Offers screenings throughout the school year to help identify children aged 34 months to 5 years old who may need special services in order to experience success in school. Special services can include occupational, physical and/or speech therapies, or a specialized early childhood program. Screenings will not show conclusively that a child has special needs, but it will indicate if he or she may need further assessment. Early Childhood Education Assistance Program - ECEAP Program is administered to Dieringer School District families through Pierce County Human Services Offers free preschool to low-income families with four year old children. Blossoms Early Learning Center is an ECEAP preschool program serving 3 and 4 year old children. ECEAP is a free preschool program funded by Washington Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF). Families qualify for ECEAP based on income or other qualifying factors. Teachers work with children to build the skills necessary for success in kindergarten and beyond. Children have fun exploring while learning language, literacy, math, science, art and more.
