This 10-week course is a catalyst in breaking the cycles of abuse and neglect within vulnerable families. Led by trained facilitators, Circle of Security assists parents in identifying their own unhealthy patterns and triggers before they pass them on to their children.
CAPA/PREPARES (Childbirth and Parenting Assistance) provides an environment for parents to build loving bonds with their kids to prepare them for a healthy future. CAPA/PREPARES offers stabilizing and advocacy services to expecting and parenting individuals and families with children ages 5 and under.

Programs include:
- Outreach and Support: Provides support through phone, email and home visits to families who call in with difficult situations. Answers questions about their special needs child. Can also attend meetings with parents, for additional support.
- Positive Parenting for Challenging Behaviors Classes: The class is taught in a series of two sessions. Parents learn why their children have difficult behaviors, how to prevent unwanted behaviors, and how to teach replacement behaviors.
- Play Groups and Summer Camps: Playgroups are designed for parents to attend with their child and focus on supporting social/emotional development. The summer programs are an opportunity to connect with other parents and community programs.
- Respite / Parent's Night Out: This program is designed to provide much needed breaks for parents or full time care providers through childcare ‘night out’. This is presently being offered through out reimbursement program but will return to site care once it is safe to do so.
- Family Support Groups: Support groups are designed to provide the opportunity for parents and caregivers to meet and discuss topics around advocacy and to network together. Parenting support groups are designed with “mini” lessons that support both the parent and child with topics of parenting.
- Family Unity Recreation Activities: FURA‘s provide families an opportunity to have a structured recreation activity with other families who have children with disabilities. Parent’s network and exchange information. Children renew friendships. A good time is had by all.

Partners first-time moms with a home visitor to support a healthy pregnancy. To enroll, must be less than 28 weeks pregnant, meet low income requirements and live in Spokane County. A specially trained nurse will visit clients throughout the pregnancy and until the baby is 2 years old.

Teen Expectant/New Parent Assistance
Helps African American fathers increase involvement in the lives of their children. Specialized programs available for fathers with children in out-of-home care, fathers 18-24, and fathers involved in the criminal justice system.
Father Engagement:
Provides fathers with information about the child welfare systems, the courts, child support, and to increase parenting skills. Engages the fathers of children who are placed in out-of-home care and increases the father’s involvement in the lives of their children.
Fathers in Transition:
Assists African American fathers who have been involved with the criminal justice system by providing employment and housing so they can positively impact the lives of their children and the community. Case managers and peer mentors meet with fathers weekly to provide support, community resources, housing and employment. Must also participate in Father Engagement.
Young Bulls Fatherhood Academy:
Weekly support services include one-on-one case management, life skills coaching, and workshops that provide access to and information about community resources, housing, employment opportunities, apprenticeship programs, and behavioral health services. Also supplies basic needs such as gas cards, food, bus passes, diapers, wipes and clothing.

Offers court approved mandatory parenting classes to parents in the process of filing for divorce or legal separation. Includes a four hour seminar on separation, custody, child development, communication skills, positive parenting skills.
This four hour seminar will focus on children’s needs during their parent’s separation, custody issues and/or divorce. Parents will learn about the developmental stages of children, communication skills, the impact of divorce on children and positive parenting skills. This seminar is approved by the Kitsap County Superior Court and intended for parents involved in divorce, legal separation, or paternity actions. Upon completion, you will be given a Certificate of Completion to be filed with the Court.

- Parent Support Classes: offering support groups and classes for parents and families to help educate and support as they're raising their children. Includes: 7 to 10-week Parenting Skills Classes for parents/caregivers of children, 0-18 years of age; and 4-hour Co-Parenting Seminars required by the courts to support parents who are going through divorce or separation and have minor children.
- Adoption Resource: offers adoption counseling for birth mothers who are considering adoption or are interested in more information about adoption. Families learn how the process works, discover future opportunities, and receive support throughout the adoption process.
- Kinship Navigator: provides services to enhance the ability of relatives to provide safe, stable, and a nurturing environment for the children in their care. Services include legal referral regarding custody, financial assistance to reach basic needs, parent education & training, support group, assistance in applying for federal and state subsidies, help with child care, help in navigating through the education system, and information on medical dental, and mental health services.
- Foster Teen Programs: assists youth in acquiring the skills they need in order to live and function effectively on their own. These include interpersonal skills, money management, housing, work and vocational skills.
