Behavioral Health offered at Mattawa Community Medical Clinic

Provides a wide range of mental health services, including help with substance abuse disorders.

Programs that offer simple tests that people who are concerned about their emotional health can take to learn more about their symptoms and ways of coping with them. Individuals generally have an opportunity to see a film and/or hear a talk about the causes, symptoms and treatment of specific mental health conditions; complete a screening questionnaire; and talk about the results with a mental health professional. People who show signs of a disorder are encouraged to seek further evaluation and, potentially, treatment. Most mental health screenings are confidential and available at no cost. Mental health screenings may also be available by telephone or online.

Mental Health Screening

Programs that provide emotional support, information and guidance to help people resolve whatever personal or interpersonal difficulties they are experiencing. The counselor can address any issue that is troubling the individual, but does not specialize in the treatment of any particular problem area.

General Counseling Services

Programs that specialize in the treatment of children from infancy to age 12 who have adjustment problems, behavior problems, emotional disturbances, a personality disorder or incipient mental illness.

Child Guidance

Programs that provide individual, group or family therapy for individuals who have problems related to the excessive use of alcohol and/or use of other drugs (and/or for their families) to help them better understand the nature of the disorder and support recovery efforts.

Substance Use Disorder Counseling

Programs that conduct investigations to determine whether an individual is endangered by a drug or alcohol use disorder. The program may request an order for involuntary treatment if the person is found to be at risk of self harm or harm to another in situations where all voluntary options have been exhausted. Substance use disorder treatment orders are issued by the court following a hearing which is held to examine the evidence and to consider the testimony of people involved in the situation. In the case of juveniles younger than age 18, the order may also include instructions which authorize the apprehension of the youth and confinement in a protective setting for detoxification and/or further assessment.

Substance Use Disorder Treatment Orders

Provides a range of addiction and substance use disorder treatment services to support individuals and families to get on the road to recovery from substance use disorders. Includes assessments, DUI evaluations, co-occurring disorders treatment, prevention/education, and outpatient counseling. 

Pasco and Walla Walla Offices offer the Youth and Family Tree Program, which provides treatment to youth aged between 12-25 years old who are using substances. Uses evidence -based practices to provide treatment and case management to youth and their families. Provides substance use disorder treatment through groups and individuals sessions, mental health treatment to those with co-occurring disorders. Also offers services to family members struggling with substance use.

Substance Use Disorder Treatment offered at Comprehensive Healthcare in Walla Walla

Offers the Youth and Family Tree Program, which provides treatment to youth aged between 12-25 years old who are using substances.

Programs that develop plans for the evaluation, treatment and/or care of individuals who, because of age, illness, disability or other difficulties, need assistance in planning and arranging for services; which assess the individual's needs; coordinate the delivery of needed services; ensure that services are obtained in accordance with the case plan; and follow up and monitor progress to ensure that services are having a beneficial impact on the individual. Case management is a collaborative process characterized by communication, advocacy and resource management to promote high quality, cost-effective interventions and outcomes.

Case/Care Management

Supervised, structured programs that offer a wide range of outpatient services which may be coordinated by a case manager and may include individual and group counseling, 12-step meetings, social and recreational activities, educational and vocational services, life skills training, primary health care, perinatal health care, a program for family members, relapse prevention services, a continuing care program and supportive services (such as child care, transportation and parenting skills development) for individuals who have problems related to excessive use of alcohol and/or use of other drugs and need access to treatment to maintain their individual recovery plans but do not require the intensity of a day treatment program or 24-hour hospital care. Participants attend the program on a regularly scheduled basis at least once a month but usually more frequently depending on their individual needs. Intensive outpatient programs are usually available three or four days per week for three or four hours per day.

Comprehensive Outpatient Substance Use Disorder Treatment

Programs that serve as gatekeeper agencies which evaluate individuals who are in need of services related to an alcohol or other drug use disorder and triage them for the limited number of subsidized beds that may be available in the community. Some programs may also offer medical detoxification services for people who need them.

Central Intake/Assessment for Substance Use Disorders

Mutual support groups whose members are people who have any type of behavioral addiction or a substance use disorder involving alcohol or other drugs. The groups meet in-person, by telephone or via the Internet; provide emotional support, information and resources to help those who participate modify their behavior; and may include faith-based and secular 12-step groups as well as non-12 step groups.

General Addictions/Substance Use Disorder Support Groups

Programs that work with the families and friends and others who are concerned with the excessive use of alcohol and/or use of other drugs by someone they love with the objective of helping those individuals create a crisis in the life of the person as the first step in helping them to recognize that they have a substance use disorder and accept treatment. The program offers a guided process during which groups of concerned others express their feelings about the effects of the problem on their own lives; develop the strength and objectivity to confront the one they love; plan and rehearse an intervention strategy where the individual is confronted with his or her behavior and the consequences of refusing to seek treatment; confirm a treatment plan including financial arrangements and bed availability; establish a date and time for the intervention; and carry out the intervention with the hope that the person will accept treatment.

Substance Use Disorder Intervention Programs

Programs that evaluate individuals who may have a drug and/or alcohol use disorder to determine the nature and extent of the problem; and which may make a recommendation regarding treatment or may refer the individual to a specific program. The service does not include a centralized triage function within the community or a formal relationship with the courts.
