Provides support, information and resources to women and families coping with pregnancy and postpartum mood disorders.

Programs that link parents whose children have a specific disease, disorder, disability or other issues with other parents whose children have similar challenges for the purpose of information sharing and support. Also included are programs for parents who themselves have a disability or other problems that have an impact on their parenting ability.

Parent to Parent Networking

Mutual support groups for parents who share a common characteristic or circumstance such as being single parents, dual career parents, multiple birth parents, parents with children who are out of control, or parents of children with disabilities, who come together for educational and social purposes as well as for mutual support. Meeting formats may include in-person, telephone or Internet options.

Parent Support Groups

Programs that offer a telephone service that enables people who are troubled to talk confidentially about their personal problems with an empathetic listener. These programs are often staffed by volunteers who can offer referrals for ongoing treatment, if needed.

Talklines/Warmlines

Offers a confidential space to talk about pregnancy, parenting, abortion, and adoption. Peer Counselors offer judgment-free support at any point before, during, and after pregnancy, regardless of which options the caller is considering.

Pregnancy, Parenting, Abortion, and Adoption Talkline offered at All-Options

Programs that provide individual, conjoint or group counseling for individuals who have terminated their pregnancies and, if appropriate, for their significant others, which focuses on their feelings about the abortion and its effect on their lives.

Postabortion Counseling

Programs that maintain lists of medical clinics and other facilities that perform abortions and which link individuals seeking the procedure with appropriate resources.

Abortion Referrals

Programs that help pregnant individuals become aware of their alternatives including abortion, evaluate their options, and reach decisions that are appropriate for their individual situations. Counseling is generally also available for significant others, upon request.

Pro-Choice Pregnancy Counseling

Programs that provide immediate assistance for pregnant individuals who are hiding their pregnancies, considering abandonment or experiencing other pregnancy related issues. Included may be short-term emotional support, an opportunity to discuss alternatives, adoption referrals if wanted, information about Safe Haven programs and other resources. Hotline staff are generally available via telephone, email, chat and/or text.

Crisis Pregnancy Hotlines

Programs that provide counseling, mandated in some states in conjunction with a 24-hour waiting period, for individuals who have made a decision to terminate their pregnancy. The counseling provides information about fetal development, pregnancy prevention, the abortion procedure the patient will undergo, the risks and alternatives to the procedure, the risks of continuing the pregnancy and, when medically accurate, possible complications and longer term health risks such as steThe program may provide written information to review and may request a signature on an informed consent form.

Pre-Abortion Counseling

Programs that offer individual therapeutic sessions which are facilitated or guided by an individual who is the same age as the client (an age-peer) or who has experienced and resolved the same type of problem as the client.

Programs that operate a telephone counseling and information line that parents can call when they have childhood development questions, need advice regarding a specific parenting problem or need a referral for parenting resources.

Have various services and programs that assist, educate, and advocate for individuals and families, including workshops for Fathers, concerns with fussy babies, parent involvement in children's school experiences, and drug use prevention.

Programs that teach skills that enable parents to deal constructively and consistently with a broad spectrum of child rearing problems which may include sibling rivalry; school behavior and performance; poor self-esteem; shyness; drug use; sexual promiscuity; and the whole range of negative, acting-out behaviors including whining, temper tantrums, disobedience, insolence and destructiveness. Some parenting skills development programs utilize a step-by-step approach for managing specific problems and may incorporate application at home of techniques that were discussed and practiced in the classroom setting. Other programs may offer participatory family workshops which provide opportunities for parents and children to learn and practice methods for dealing with one another under the guidance of a trained facilitator. Most training programs teach the parent a particular way of talking and relating to their children that reinforces positive behaviors and communication and decreases negative behaviors while supporting the development of a relationship that is built on fairness, mutual caring and respect.
